Chemical Composition: Stainless Steel 321 is a titanium-stabilized variant of 304 stainless steel, while 321H is the high-carbon version. The primary difference between the two lies in their carbon content. The addition of titanium provides enhanced resistance to intergranular corrosion, making these flanges suitable for applications where exposure to high temperatures and corrosive environments is common.
Corrosion Resistance: Both 321 and 321H flanges offer excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosive substances, including organic acids, inorganic chemicals, and oxidizing agents. This corrosion resistance is vital in industries like chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals, where exposure to aggressive chemicals is frequent.
High-Temperature Performance: One of the standout features of these flanges is their ability to withstand high temperatures. Stainless Steel 321 and 321H flanges can endure temperatures up to 900°C (1652°F), making them ideal for applications in furnaces, exhaust systems, and other high-temperature environments. Their high-temperature strength and creep resistance ensure long-lasting performance under extreme conditions.
Weldability: Stainless Steel 321 and 321H flanges are readily weldable using common welding methods such as TIG, MIG, and shielded metal arc welding. This ease of weldability simplifies installation and maintenance, reducing downtime and costs.
