How does Nickel 200 compare to other nickel alloys in terms of its corrosion
resistance?
Nickel 200 is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, a key factor in its widespread
use. Compared to other nickel alloys, Nickel 200 stands out due to its exceptional
resistance to various corrosive environments, including alkaline solutions, neutral salts,
and even reducing conditions. This remarkable corrosion resistance can be attributed to the
high purity of Nickel 200, with a minimum nickel content of 99.2%. The absence of
significant alloying elements, such as iron and copper, further enhances its corrosion
resistance.
Unlike some nickel alloys that may exhibit susceptibility to certain types of corrosion,
Nickel 200 maintains its integrity and provides reliable protection against corrosion in
many applications. That makes Nickel 200
bars, rods, and wires an ideal choice for industries and environments
where corrosion resistance is paramount, such as chemical processing, marine equipment, and
aerospace applications.
What applications or industries commonly use Nickel 200 bars, rods, and
wires?
Nickel 200 bars are highly valued and widely utilized in several
applications and industries. One of the primary industries that commonly relies on Nickel
200 bars is the chemical processing industry. These bars are extensively employed in
fabricating chemical equipment, such as heat exchangers, reaction vessels, and piping
systems, where corrosion resistance is paramount. Nickel 200 bars are also prominent in the
electronics industry, particularly for manufacturing electrical connectors and terminals,
due to their excellent electrical conductivity and thermal stability.
Nickel 200 rods are widely employed in various applications and industries
due to their unique properties and versatility. Chemical processing is one of the primary
industries that commonly utilizes Nickel 200 rods. These rods are extensively used in
constructing chemical reactors, storage tanks, and piping systems where corrosion resistance
is crucial. Nickel 200 rods also find application in the electrical and electronics
industry, particularly for producing electrical contacts, wiring, and components that
require high electrical conductivity and resistance to oxidation.
Nickel 200 wires are extensively utilized in various applications and
industries due to their unique characteristics and wide-ranging capabilities. One of the
primary industries that commonly relies on Nickel 200 wires is the electrical and
electronics industry. These wires are widely used in producing electrical heating elements,
resistance wires, and thermocouples due to their excellent electrical conductivity, high
melting point, and oxidation resistance.
Manufacturing Process Of Nickel 200 Bars
Melting and Casting
Steel and alloying metals are loaded into an electric arc furnace. Once
in the furnace, the metal is heated to a specific temperature above its
melting point, usually in excess of 2800°F.
Forming
Most cast steel is formed by hot rolling—the slab, bloom, or billet is
heated and passed through large rollers, stretching out the steel into a
longer, thinner form.
Heat treatment
Heat treatment strengthens rolled stainless steel by recrystallizing the
deformed microstructure. Most stainless steel is heat treated by
annealing.
Descaling
A rolled piece of stainless steel acquires a layer of oxidized “mill
scale,” which needs to be washed away to restore a shiny surface finish.
Cutting or Machining
Stainless steel is cut to a specified shape and size. The stainless steel
can be sheared with circular knives, sawed with high-speed blades, or
blanked with punches.
Packaging and Delivery
To reach their destination in pristine condition, we employ careful
packaging techniques.
